Irene Johnson Fields

Irene Johnson Fields, 83, of Bowling Green passed away September 26, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

The Butler County native was born August 24, 1940 to the late Glayds and Nora Booth Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Johnson; brother, Archie Johnson; grandson, Barry Wayne Phelps; and great-grandson, Houston Michael Barnett. Irene was the matriarch of her family. She loved each of them fiercely, with all she had. She was a believer in Christ and found strength within Him. Irene was a member of Oak Forest Church. She was a loving mother and Mamaw to her large family.

Survivors include her children, Wanda Rose (Craig) of Park City, Kenny Fields (Tammie) of Bowling Green, Timmy Fields (Ginger) of Bowling Green, Allen Fields of Park City, and Chris Taylor (Tracy) of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Chandra Jackson (Stan), Matthew Rose, Craig Rose, Jr. (Amanda), Coty Fields (Merina), Cole Fields, Sara Garrett (Jeffrey), Derek Fields (Malloreah), Nathan Fields (Sam), Alex Jones (Shelby), Victoria Basil (Dillon), Dakota Johnson, Matthew Taylor (Brittany), Tony Barnett, Shminka Barnett, and Salena Barnett; 31 great-grandchildren; and several special friends. The family would like to thank her special caregiver and adopted daughter, Tracy Taylor for her loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with visitation from 1 until 8 p.m. Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 until service time Saturday all at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Peyton Phelps Cemetery in Butler County.
