GLASGOW – On Monday, the Glasgow Scottie cheerleaders and members of the “dog pound” joined forces to paint the Glasgow square Scottie blue and white in preparation for Spirit Week.

The celebration kicks off Wednesday as the Glasgow square will host students, parents, and members of both Barren County and Glasgow high schools from 5-7:30pm for a night full of fun. From dunking booths and an inflatable bull to free Hawaiian shave ice and ice cream, there will be numerous ways to have a great time.

The celebration, naturally, will build even more anticipation for Friday night’s Crossroads Classic between the 4-0 Glasgow Scotties and 3-1 Barren County Trojans, who haven’t faced off since September 2, 2016. The anticipation has only increased since it was announced that the two teams would renew their hometown rivalry and return to playing each other, and Friday’s matchup will be yet another great addition to the longstanding feud.

“The best thing about Barren County and Glasgow and that game is that, win or lose, it’s the best game of the year,” said Jamie Bewley Byrd, Barren Co. Judge Executive. “We just want to celebrate all of the spirit and community and bring everyone together here on the Glasgow square for an awesome night.”

The Barren County Trojans started off the year strong with a 3-0 record before falling to the Falcons of Monroe County 34-14 on September 8. Meanwhile, the Scotties have dominated every opponent placed in their way and come into Friday’s game undefeated with a 4-0 record. Glasgow will host the Crosstown Classic at Hank Royse Stadium on Friday, September 15 with kickoff slated for 7PM.

Tickets for what is being called the “Game of the Year” can be purchased online by clicking HERE or at the gate for $7. If you can’t make it out to the game, WCLU will have the broadcast with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30PM on 103.1FM and 1490AM, and free video streaming on both WCLURadio and the Scottie Channel on YouTube, and on our website at wcluradio.com/scottie.
