Aug 28, 2023 | 5:03 PM

(GLASGOW , KY) — September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library joins the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card.

From borrowing books, ebooks, and audiobooks to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending a book club or story time, a library card helps everyone do more of what they enjoy, all without stretching their budget.

Interested in trying a new hobby? The library can help. Thinking about starting or growing a small business? Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library offers business, tax, and legal titles as well as the Small Business Reference Center online database. There’s something for everyone, and signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning for students.

Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library continues to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving needs of our community. To find out how to get a library card or to learn more about the library’s resources and programs, visit weldonpubliclibrary.org.

During September, Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library will host library card sign-up activities. This year the library will offer punch cards for Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Punches can be earned by signing up for a new card, having an existing card reviewed or updated, checking out books or DVDs, and participating in a program. When your punch card is full, you get to choose a free book and be entered in a prize drawing!

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the ALA and libraries work together in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card.
