GLASGOW — Officials with the Barren River Drug Task Force joined other area law enforcement in an effort to arrest a wanted subject from Warren County.
The Bowling Green Police Department contacted the BRDTF on Thursday in reference to a wanted subject that was possibly in the Glasgow area. A detective later noticed the subject, identified as Deandre L. Christian, 32, in a white Impala traveling along US 31-E south. The detective knew Christian had active warrants relating to fentanyl trafficking, according to a news release from the Barren River Drug Task Force.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Department and its tactical team were contacted to attempt to conduct a felony stop. The Impala started traveling westbound toward Bowling Green, authorities said. The Barren County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Team was able to stop the vehicle near mile marker seven. They placed Christian under arrest for the active warrant without incident.
Authorities said Christian destroyed his cell phone before he got out of the car. He threatened one of the passengers with physical harm in front of deputies.
Christian was charged with the active warrant for two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense), receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, first-degree fleeing evading police, and obscuring the identity of a machine ($10,000 or more).
Christian was additionally charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, cocaine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, opiates), tampering with physical evidence, third-degree terroristic threatening and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.
Christian was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center, where he remains. The Glasgow Police Department also assisted in the effort.
