Mr. Joe Brown (Updated)

Mr. Joe Brown, age 84, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Tennova Healthcare, in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Joe was born on December 20, 1938, a son of the late Emmitt Brown, and Elma Ellen Cherry. Joe started work as a mechanic and truck driver at the age of 15, having worked at his brother-in-law’s Scrapyard, Farron Fiberglass, and Hagan and Stone Pallet.  He married Mary Dyer on September 4, 1957.  Joe was a member of Berea Church of Christ, he enjoyed music, and dancing, and more than anything, he enjoyed being around people, especially his family.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Mary (Dyer) Brown; his children, Margienell Bryant and husband Joe Wayne, of Tompkinsville, Billy Joe Brown and wife Gwen, of Gamaliel, and Melissa Rena Cleary Geralds of Glasgow; one sister, Flossie Pennington and husband Mitchell of Moss, Tennessee; brother Bill Brown and wife Dorothy of Nashville; a brother in law, Randall Dyer of Louisville; four grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Bryant, Valerie (Geralds) Burnett, and Mason Brown; along with five great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Vassie Fleming; a special grandmother; Lindie Belle Brown; his mother and father-in-law, Elmer Dyer and Jessie D. Tyree; one granddaughter Lesley Geralds.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.  John Osgotharp will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time for service at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers: Ravy Watson, Vernal Geralds, Stevie Geralds, Matt Combs, Bobby Joe Ford, And Roger Dyer

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macedonia Cemetery or The Old Soldiers Cemetery in honor of Joe.
