GLASGOW — A Barren County man was charged with rape and strangulation after an incident along Finney Road earlier in March.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Austin L. Hazelwood of Mammoth Cave Road on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. The arrest came after he was named in a complaint. A female juvenile alleged he was with her on March 3 when he forced himself onto her and raped her.
The juvenile said Hazelwood choked her and continued to have sex with her without her consent. He later admitted to police the two were having consensual sex but the female told him to stop once he choked her. He was “trying to be kinky,” an arrest citation said.
Hazelwood apparently stopped having sex with the female about a minute after she told him to stop. He told police he ejaculated as he stopped having forceful sex.
Hazelwood is lodged at the Barren County Detention Center under a $50,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 20 at 12:30 p.m.
