GLASGOW — The Barren County Fiscal Court voted Tuesday to approve a new logo and branding package for the county.
Barren County Judge/Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd presented a branding proposal to magistrates “to help bring a fresh look to the county.” The updates came at her request, according to a news release.
“We are thrilled with the new branding materials and logos that were created for the county. I personally believe that it will bring invigorating energy and excitement to the community,” Byrd said. “I look forward to using these materials to better market the county so that we all benefit.”
Barren County government has a contract with a local design company, Daddy Jack Solutions, LLC. The contract is set to run for six months and pays $600 each month.
The company intends to redesign the county’s website to make it more user-friendly, a news release said. They also hope to make it more professional and enticing for industry and families looking to locate in the community.
Daddy Jack Solutions explained the logo’s elements. The symbols and colors were a collaboration between the designer and Byrd.
“She was able to provide ideas and direction while the designer was able to bring it to life,” the news release said.
The triangle was chosen so the three corners could represent each of the three city municipalities in Barren County. The waves represent the waters in the county, including Barren River Lake and the numerous streams and creeks. The cave represents the many cave systems and karst areas, including entry points to the Mammoth Cave National Park.
A Celtic font choice is to symbolize the county’s Scottish heritage while green was used to represent the county’s robust agriculture community. Maroon and blue signify unity, the county said.
“My office and the Fiscal Court will continue to look for ways to bring new life and new vision to our community,” Byrd said. “This is a small step in a large scheme to bring in industry and revitalization.”
