LOUISVILLE — Robbie Fudge, a music educator from Glasgow, was recently recognized with an award at the annual Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference.
The conference was held in Louisville Feb. 8-11, according to a press release. Fudge was awarded the 35-year membership award.
Mr. Fudge began his long tenure as a band director in 1987, after graduating from WKU with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Fudge also received his Masters’s Degree and Rank 1 degree from WKU.
During his career, he has taught at Clinton County Schools, Hart County Schools, Barren County Schools, Caverna Independent School and Glasgow Independent Schools. After retiring as a public educator, Fudge is in his second year as band director at the Foundation Christian Academy – a private school in Bowling Green.
He served KMEA 3rd District as District Band Chairman three different times. He has also served as the chairman of the 3rd district Mentoring Program and as Chairman of the 3rd district Community Involvement. He was honored as the KMEA 3rd District Teacher of the Year in 1996.
Fudge also serves as the Music Director and Conductor of the Glasgow Community Band in Glasgow.
“Teaching and conducting music is the greatest joy that I have experienced in my teaching career,” Fudge said. “It’s been an honor to teach students in many school districts. It warms my heart when former students see me and we share memories of band. I also enjoy directing the Glasgow Community Band and presenting local concerts.”
Mr. Fudge plans to teach one more year before fully retiring from teaching, the news release said.
Robbie lives in Glasgow with his wife Jenniffer, a Glasgow Preschool educator. They have two adult children, Riley and Caleb. They attend South Green Street church of Christ where Robbie serves as an elder.
