Local leaders meet with state officials to signal united leadership

GLASGOW — Community leaders from Barren County traveled to Frankfort Thursday to meet with key state officials.

The group representing Barren County included State Representative, Steve Riley; Barren County Judge/Executive, Jamie Bewley Byrd; City of Glasgow Mayor, Henry Royse; Barren Inc President & CEO, Maureen Carpenter; and local business representative, Larry Glass.

The group met with Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear; Kentucky Transportation Secretary, Jim Gray; and Secretary for Economic Development, Jeff Noel.

“The purpose of these meetings was to introduce the newly elected officials, share the positive momentum happening in Barren County; discuss the common vision for the community, and demonstrate that our leadership is committed to working together,” according to a news release from the Barren County Economic Authority.

Among items discussed were local transportation infrastructure, housing, economic development and workforce.
