Gail Johnson

Gail Johnson, age 68 of Mammoth Cave, departed this life on Friday, December 16, 2022 at her home. The Edmonson County native was born on August 4, 1954 to the late Delbert and Elburtia “Birt” Sanders. On November 26, 1970,  she married Larry Mark Johnson, who also preceded her in death.

Gail was saved at the age of twelve, and joined Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her passing. She was the former owner of Johnson’s Custom Signs in Cave City.

She leaves to honor her memory— daughters, Candy Rhea Kidwell (Danny) of Mammoth Cave, Connie Lynn Meredith of Cub Run and Wanda Jo Gore (Kenny) of Horse Cave; grandchildren, Samantha Jo Meredith, Jesse Dwight Meredith and Sierra Elburtia Gore; great-grandchild, Aaron Blaine Martin; sisters, Polly Goins (Charles), Rachel Haycraft, Nathel Haycraft and Delores Jones; brothers, Easol Sanders (Erma) and David Sanders (Linda); numerous others nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Samuel Sanders (Debbie), who was like a son and daughter to her, and a special niece, Annette Geary, who was also like a daughter.  She was also preceded in death by, brothers, Osa and Dennie Sanders and sisters, Molly Kersey and Ollie Sanders.

Interment will be in Hill Grove Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Wounded Warriors and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

 

VISITATION

3 PM Monday, December 19, 2022 until time of the funeral service

on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
