GLASGOW — Those elected to county and city offices in Glasgow and Barren County will soon be sworn in during public events.
Barren County Judge/Executive-elect Jamie B. Byrd, County Clerk-elect Helena Birdwell and County Attorney-elect Mike Richardson will be sworn in alongside magistrates and constables-elect. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. The ceremony is expected to take place inside the circuit courtroom, which is on the third floor of the Barren County Courthouse.
The city of Glasgow’s elected officials will be sworn in during a public ceremony slated for Friday, Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. It will be inside Glasgow City Hall and is expected to include Glasgow Mayor-elect Henry Royse and the councilmembers-elect. Those members include incumbents Terry Bunnell, Patrick Gaunce, Marna Kirkpatrick, Chasity Lowery, James Neal, Freddie Norris, Joe Trigg and Marlin Witcher. Newcomer Max Marion will also be sworn in that day.
Barren District Judge Gabe Pendleton is expected to officiate both ceremonies. Circuit Judge John T. Alexander will be out of town, according to a source familiar with the matter. Rep. Steve Riley will reportedly swear in Byrd and possibly Birdwell.
