James Lelon Carter

James Lelon Carter, 91, of Adolphus, KY passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Medical Center at Scottsville.  The Adolphus, KY native a retired foreman at the carpenter shop for Dollar General Corporation where he worked for 27 years, a farmer, musician, a Corporal for the U.S. Army, a caretaker and board member of Carter’s Tabernacle Cemetery and member of New Community Fellowship Church, formerly Carter’s Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy, former member of Hoyt Avenue Church of God of Prophecy in Indianapolis, IN.  He was a son of the late William Hershel Carter and Loatie Vivian Gibbs Carter and husband of 70 years of the late Ruby Inez Carter.

 

He is survived by 2 daughters: Cathy Gragson and husband, Terry, Munfordville, KY; Sandi Kay Marsh Graves and husband, Tony, Franklin, KY;

4 grandchildren: Susan Keen (Mark); Brad Keen (Heather); Joey Fowler and Jesse Sanders;

6 great grandchildren: William Berry; Austin Keen; Kyle Keen; Makayla Huntsman; Brennen Fowler and Tru Fowler;

1 great great grandson: Carter Keen;

2 Sisters-in-Law: Lisa Carter, Adolphus, KY and Bonnie Lawson (Bob), Cambridge, OH;

Brother-in-Law: Donald Carter (Becky), Port Charlotte, FL;

He was preceded in death by 1 son: Stephen Lynn Carter; 3 brothers: Phillip Levi Carter, Lewis Carter and Lloyd Carter; 2 sisters: Rebecca Charlton and Mallie Carter; 1 son-in-law: Jimmy Dale Marsh; 1 sister-in-law: Imogene Smalling.

 

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Smith and Bro. Gary Kepley officiating and burial Carter’s Tabernacle Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 7:00 A.M. Friday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carter’s Tabernacle Cemetery Fund. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
