Dr. William Joseph “Yogi” Meadors

Dr. William Joseph “Yogi” Meadors, age 83, of Tompkinsville passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Southern Kentucky Hospice House in Bowling Green. Yogi was born in Corbin, Kentucky on March 28, 1939, the son of the late Theodore “Ted” and Ruth (Young) Meadors.  Dr. Meadors was a coach, physical education instructor, and athletic director for many years. He was a huge supporter and fan of Western Kentucky University athletics and alumni, as well as the Corbin Redhounds. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, educating, and coaching students. 

 

He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Betty Jean (Carter) Meadors, two sons; Michael Meadors and his wife Lydia, William J. Meadors, Jr. and his wife Kim both of Lexington, three daughters; Wendy Lee Meadors of Lexington, Carmen Nicole Keegan, and her Husband Gary of Hudson, New York, and Jill Meadors of Bowling Green, Step-Children; Teresa Page, Dana Harlan and her husband Tony, and Jennifer Lankford and her husband Robert all of Tompkinsville; twelve grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter also survive.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26 at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.  Bro. Mark Hopper will officiate the services.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time for service at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers: Daniel Harlan, John Wesley Page, Zeke Turner, John Robert Lankford, Luke Meadors, Maxwell Meadors, and Michael Meadors II.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monroe County Backpack Program in memory of Yogi.
