GLASGOW — A Barren County grand jury has indicted a man who allegedly groped a female inside a store back in August.
Police said Zachary B. Saltsman, 31, allegedly grabbed the 17-year-old girl while she was bent down to look at some candy on low-level shelves. The incident happened on Aug. 31 at Wal-Mart in Glasgow, a citation said.
The indictment handed down Oct. 19 listed charges for third degree sexual abuse, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia and possession of synthetic drugs.
The female told police she was in the checkout aisle when an unknown male subject walked behind her from the right then to the left. She then felt “a grab on her buttocks,” according to an arrest citation.
The juvenile said the man was a tall, white man with a dark colored beard. He allegedly made a quick, right turn around the corner of the aisle. Saltsman was later identified as the man in question.
Saltsman spoke with police after waiving his rights. He told police he walked through the aisle and “unintentionally bumped into her and walked away due to the situation being awkward.”
Police later viewed video footage collected by Wal-Mart’s asset protection team. Saltsman later admitted he intentionally grabbed the teen’s buttocks.
He was arrested and searched. Police discovered a clear plastic baggy inside his pants. It allegedly contained a green leafy substance believed to be synthetic marijuana. Police also found a “marijuana one hitter pipe.”
An arraignment date was not clear. Saltsman remains lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
