Police arrest woman after crash along Cumberland Expressway

GLASGOW — A vehicle crash Sunday ended in the arrest of a Glasgow woman, police said.

Officers responded to an exit ramp of the Louie B. Nunn Expressway. They located the driver of the vehicle along the shoulder of the highway. She was walking away and later fled a short distance into a wooded area after police attempted to make contact with her, according to a news release.

Vilma Glavez-Lorenza Matias-Martin, 28, was apprehended and was determined to be impaired. She was not injured as a result of the crash.

She faces charges relating to operating a motor vehicle under the influence (alcohol), fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and a slew of other traffic offenses.

Officer Allen Ward made the arrest. He was assisted by Officer Jordan Saltsman.
