BECKTON — Funeral services are scheduled Friday for a 6-year-old Amish boy who died Monday morning along Highway 1297.
Roy Gingerich was killed after a pickup truck traveling eastbound along Old Bowling Green Road crashed into the rear of the buggy. Kentucky State Police confirmed three children were involved in the crash alongside their mother, Ella.
Barren County Emergency Management named Roy in a message Thursday afternoon to urge motorists and the community to be aware of the expected horse and buggy travel along Highway 1297. The Gingerich family resides in Smiths Grove.
“Let’s have the compassion for this family as we would expect for our own,” a Facebook post said. “This is tragic anytime it happens and is harder on people when younger life has to be laid to rest.”
No other details were provided. It’s unclear where the funeral services will be held.
