Police searching for escaped Breckinridge County inmate

UPDATE (9:55 a.m.) – Claycomb is back in police custody, according to KSP.

HARDINSBURG, Ky. — Troopers with Kentucky State Police are searching for a Breckinridge County Detention Center inmate who fled while at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.

Kody Claycomb, 30, of Louisville, was reportedly taken to the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital for examination after a fall in the detention center. While at the hospital, Claycomb assaulted a deputy jailer and fled in a detention center vehicle. That happened around midnight on Monday, Oct. 10.

The vehicle, identified as a a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, did not have any type of radio or weapons inside it at the time of the escape, according to a news release. Police later located the vehicle at 4801 US 60 in Breckinridge County.

Claycomb is a white male, 6-foot, and weights approximately 180 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing orange clothing.

Claycomb was jailed at the Breckinridge County Detention Center for possession of methamphetamine, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Claycomb is asked to contact KSP, Post 4 at (270) 766-5078. The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Riley Pineiroa.
