Man dead, two arrested after crash in Scottsville

SCOTTSVILLE — A man is dead after a Thursday morning crash in Allen County.

Scottsville Police responded to an injury accident at the intersection of U.S. 31E and Highway 100 at 8:16 a.m.

A 2017 Nissan was traveling northbound along U.S. 31E and failed to yield to a red light at the intersection, according to a news release from Scottsville Police. A 2006 Buick was traveling eastbound along Highway 100 and came into the path of the Nissan. The two vehicles collided.

Annissa K. Stanton, 28, of Nashville, was driving the Nissan. Desiree R. O’Neil, 34, was inside Stanton’s vehicle. The two were transported to the Medical Center at Scottsville and were later released to police custody. Vernon D. Cooper, 78, was inside the other car. He later died at the hospital.

Stanton was arrested and faces charges relating to first degree manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first degree wanton endangerment, disregarding a traffic control device, reckless driving and operating on a suspended license. O’Neil faces charges relating to first degree manslaughter (complicity) and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

The crash marks the second fatal vehicle collision in Scottsville this week. Richard W. Lamb, 55, of Scottsville, died after a crash on Wednesday.
