GLASGOW — A man was arrested late Saturday after a woman was attacked with a machete inside her apartment.

Glasgow Police responded to South Lewis Street just after 10:30 p.m. to the apartment of Brittany Wyche. She had called authorities and said Eddie J. Cooper, 31, had cut her in the head and hand with a machete. He allegedly fled on foot and was later located across the street from the woman’s apartment.

Wyche told police she heard a noise and got up to investigate the comotion. That’s when she realized Cooper was in her residence again. He allegedly entered her apartment earlier that evening but left before police arrived. Several items were broken, police said.

Cooper apparently attached Wyche while in her bedroom. He punched her and swung the machete toward her. She blocked the swing with her hand, picked up her 6-month-old baby and tried to leave the room. Cooper then “tackled” and strangled her, which caused her to become unconscious for a moment.

Neighbors at the apartment complex called police, and Cooper fled. He later told police no altercation happened. Instead, he alleged Wyche chased him down the street as he was walking.

Wyche had a large laceration on her hand and head, according to an arrest citation.

Cooper was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center. He remains there with a $50,000 cash bond.
