GLASGOW — Single mothers will have the opportunity to get their vehicle’s oil changed for free this weekend.
Highland Hills Community Church said it plans to host the event for the eighth year. Over 600 oil changes have been provided to area women in need.
“We think it’s just a great service for the single moms in the community,” said Brian Hodges, a member of the congregation.
The church will host the event Saturday, Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at the church, which is located at 300 S. Broadway St. Mothers are asked to pre-register by calling (270) 361-5117. On-site youth care will be available to entertain children while the oil change is being completed.
Hodges said many of the women who have returned year after year describe their gratitude for the service. He said some even describe how the oil change is one of the few times their vehicle is serviced.
“That’s something we take pride in – helping out.”
