Charles David Simmons was born on May 23, 1951, in Glasgow, KY. After a long illness he was called to eternal rest on July 10, 2022, in Louisville, KY.
He was the third child of Ewell Clifton and Myrtle Harlow Simmons. His family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1956. He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1970, joining the US Army in 1971. He completed his Bachelor of Music at California State University in 1997 and his Masters of Church Music at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2001. He served as Minister of Music at a Florida church 2001-2006.
Returning to KY he was inspired by Greg Luka, the founder of Lockdoctor in Louisville, Ky., to open his own Lockdoctor in Bowling Green. He loved helping people and this gave him a practical way to do that. After his first grandchild was born in Louisville, he decided to close up shop in Bowling Green and help the family Lockdoctor business in Louisville for a season.
In 1975 he married Margaret Elizabeth Elmore and had a daughter Susan Elizabeth. At the death of Margaret in 2008, he married Karen Moyers Fitzpatrick in 2010. He was a devoted husband, son, father, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed time with his family, his computer and writing.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Karen Moyers Fitzpatrick Simmons; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Luka (Michael); grandchildren, Bryce and Margaret all of Louisville; sisters Barbara Reeves of Charlotte, NC and Juanita Kidd (Derrick) of Crawfordsville, IN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
