Nellie Elizabeth Gooden, 74, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away May 3, 2022 at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born December 20, 1947 in Warren County, Kentucky to the late Melvin Carson and Mary Forshee Carson. As a high schooler, Nellie began working at the Plaza Theater in the ticket booth. She later worked with special needs children in the Barren County School System, specifically at Austin Tracy Elementary before becoming the volunteer coordinator for the Barren County Board of Education. Mrs. Gooden loved painting, writing poems, short stories, and plays, traveling, fishing, hiking, and many more hobbies. Nellie was a member of the Lick Branch Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Charles Gooden; two sons, Eric Gooden (Jennine Kash) and Chris Gooden (Robin); two grandchildren, Ryan Gooden (Christina Hauser) and Cameron Gooden; one sister, Martha Carson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gooden will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Lick Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home. A. F. Crow & Son is honored to be entrusted in the care of Mrs. Gooden.
