John Howard Colliver

John Howard Colliver died Thursday, August 12, 2021, age 74. He lived an incredibly blessed life. A native of Barren County Kentucky, graduate of the University of Kentucky and American College of Pennsylvania with a CLU designation. He had a 50 year insurance career. He started his own full-service brokerage, JHC insurance. He also owned the JHC travel agency. His passion for travel allowed him to visit 150 countries and territories. Organizations he had served as a member and leader included Gideon International, Rotary International, FFA and Soil & Water Conservancy district. He was an active member of Westport Road Baptist Church since 1974.

Besides his spiritual life his family was his greatest love. He was preceded in death by his parents Jewel and Christine Colliver and late wife Lois Davis Colliver. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Donald Colliver of Lexington, KY; son, Todd H. Colliver (Cathy) of Louisville, KY; daughter, Sara R. Tucker (Jessie) of Cowpens, SC; four grandsons, Paul and Joseph Colliver of Louisville, KY and Ellis and Everett Tucker of Cowpens, SC; and his adored wife Ellen D. Collier (Colliver).

Services arranged by Pearson’s Funeral home. Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Rd., in Louisville with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., at Pearson’s, 149 Breckenridge Ln.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be in the form of acts of kindness or a gift to the Lymphoma Society, Gideons International, Westport Road Baptist Church.
