Brennan Crain, left, will depart WCLU as news director Thursday, May 27, 2021, and Tyler Mansfield, right, will move into the role. Mansfield comes to WCLU with several years’ worth of journalism experience as a sportswriter.

GLASGOW, Ky. – Listeners of WCLU Radio will soon notice a change of personnel in the WCLU Newsroom as Brennan Crain departs the station Thursday, and Tyler Mansfield steps into the role beginning Friday.

Crain started work with WCLU Radio during his senior year at Barren County High School. He’s served as WCLU’s news director and producer of Good Morning Live! for two years and is stepping away from the journalism and broadcasting field to continue his undergraduate education at Western Kentucky University. Crain plans to begin medical school in the fall of 2023.

“I’m fortunate to have had such an opportunity to serve Glasgow and Barren County in the capacity of a journalist,” Crain said. “I began work with WCLU Radio as a 17-year-old aspiring journalist. Though my career plans took a turn, I’ll always be thankful for the people that helped me find success along the way.”

Mansfield, who has spent nearly six years in the journalism field as a sportswriter, comes to WCLU after covering WKU sports for the Rivals.com and Yahoo! Sports networks. In addition to his time covering WKU, Mansfield has also covered high school sports in south central Kentucky since 2015, including coverage of Glasgow and Barren County high schools.

Joining the WCLU team as both the news and sports director and producer of Good Morning Live!, Mansfield recently graduated from WKU on May 1 with an undergraduate degree in journalism. He attended Warren East High School in Bowling Green.

“I’m extremely excited to join the WCLU Radio and Forever Communications family as the news and sports director,” Mansfield said. “I sincerely thank Henry Royse, Jared Mims and Tammie Haney for the opportunity to be a part of the team. I know I have big shoes to fill as Brennan Crain did an exceptional job here, but I am looking forward to the challenge and serving the Glasgow community.”
