GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County Sheriff Kent Keen is warning citizens of a scam that has emerged.
Keen said a person is calling people and identifying with his department in an attempt to defraud citizens. The caller identifies himself as Lieutenant David Gilmore, Keen said.
The scammer is calling persons stating the individuals have outstanding warrants through the BCSO. The caller also says “something needs to be done about those warrants.”
Sheriff Keen emphasizes that the BCSO never talks about warrants with anyone over the phone. He presumes this scammer will eventually try to solicit money from the victims.
Citizens are urged to hang up immediately and to not engage in any conversation.
