GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren River District Health Department is hosting a drive-thru flu vaccination clinic at Jackie Browning Park through 2 p.m.

The clinic began at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Members of the BRDHD, Barren County Emergency Management and Barren Metcalfe EMS are present at the park through the afternoon to assist people.

“We want to make sure everybody has the opportunity to get a flu shot,” said Chip Kraus, Public Information Officer for the BRDHD. “So we decided today to do a drive up flu clinic. People can come in. They don’t even have to get out of their car.”

The cost for the vaccine is $30, but insurance is accepted. Those driving up to the park enter and follow a series of signs that direct cars to a tent.

Kraus said the time to get a flu shot is more relevant than ever because of the ongoing pandemic. He said both illnesses impact the respiratory system and preventing at least one will reduce potential illness this fall and winter.

“That’s one reason we’re recommending the flu shot,” Kraus said. “So people don’t get the flu.”

The BRDHD will have a series of locations available in other counties across the district in the coming days.
