ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Show some community spirit. Nominate your favorite area high school in the 2020 Battles in the Bluegrass school spirit program – an initiative to help strengthen communities’ bonds by benefiting local high schools.

The program allows members of the community to show their support for their favorite local high schools and help one lucky school win a $5,000 prize – to be used for anything the school may need.

For a limited time, high schools in Bluegrass Cellular’s coverage area can be nominated to compete in the Battles in the Bluegrass social media bracket competition. After the nomination period ends, see if your local school is one of the eight randomly selected to compete in the bracket challenge.

Once the social media bracket challenge kicks off, schools will battle it out on Bluegrass Cellular’s Facebook page at facebook.com/bluegrasscellular. When the bracket matchups are announced, fans will have 48 hours to vote for their favorite schools by selecting “Like” or “Love” on Facebook posts that contain the paired schools’ mascots or logos.

In a bracket-style competition, the winner from each matchup will advance to the next round. This ultimately leads to the finals, which will determine the school that will take home the $5,000 prize.

“Showing your community support and school pride is more important than ever,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. “We’re proud to provide this opportunity for the community to cheer on their area high schools and grant one high school $5,000 to be used for anything they need.”
