Former Monroe County judge/ executive dies in collision Tuesday

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Tompkinsville man died in a crash on Tuesday following days of chest pain.

Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle collision on Sept. 8 along Kentucky 1049.

Police determined that Tom Willett, 66, was driving a 2011 Nissan pickup truck when his vehicle left the roadway, drove through a fence and entered a cornfield, a Kentucky State Police news release said.

Willett was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

Police said further investigation revelaed Willett had chest pain for about three days prior to his death.
