She was a housewife and a homemaker, a very special, fun-loving, wise, story-telling, religious who was loved everyone and everyone, in turn, loved her. In her free time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, telling jokes, and making people laugh. She was a member of the Encounter Community Church of Owensboro.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Staats (Joe) of Clarkson, KY, Tammy Shackelford of Elizabethtown, KY; three sons, Greg Roof (Tina) of Leitchfield, Thomas Roof and Nathan Roof, both of Eveleigh; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with another on the way; four brothers, Leonard Brown (Eunice) of Ohio, Emmett Brown, Nevada “Joe” Brown & David Brown (Amanda) all of FL; four step-sibling; 8 sisters-in-law; seven brothers in law. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including a special nephew, Tyler Clemons.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Roof; a son, Daniel E. Roof; and a sister, Patricia Wiggins.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (May 29, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Doug Peters will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
