The town of Glasgow is set to host a series of noteworthy events Friday evening leading to road closures and potential traffic congestion.
Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution and allow extra travel time if navigating through these areas. GPD Major Terry Flatt spoke on preparations for the concert on the square.
The eastside of the Glasgow Public Square will be closed from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm in preparation for a concert event scheduled for Friday night. Additionally, the north and south sides of the square will close at 3:00 pm, further impacting traffic flow in the area.
Flatt also pointed to two other events being held this evening significantly affecting traffic.
The Glasgow Plaza Theatre will also be hosting a dance recital that is expected to bring in hundreds of attendees this evening as well, with festivities kicking off at 6:00 pm. The theatre’s event is expected to draw in hundreds, adding to the evening’s bustling atmosphere.
Furthermore, Glasgow High School will celebrate its graduation ceremony, starting at 7:00 pm. The ceremony will take place on the high school grounds, with many families and friends attending to support the graduates.
With these concurrent events, significant traffic disruptions are anticipated. The Glasgow Police Department urges drivers to plan ahead, use caution, and consider alternate routes to avoid the most congested areas.
Event attendees are encouraged to arrive early and be patient with the expected increased traffic. Parking in designated areas and following event-specific instructions will help ease congestion. Local businesses and residents near the Glasgow Public Square, Plaza Theatre, and Glasgow High School should prepare for higher traffic volumes and limited parking availability throughout the day and evening.
