Dale “Daddoo” Motley, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, Thursday, April 25, 2024. Dale was born to the late Charles Leon and Donnie Ruth Cartwright Motley. He is also preceded in death by three nieces, Heather Mitchell Miles, Autumn Frances Motley, Kelly Lynn Mitchell and a brother-in-law, Mark Stephens.

Dale was the Owner/Operator of Motley Trucking Co., a member of Clear Fork Baptist Church, and a former member of the Woodburn City Cemetery Board. Dale never met a stranger and had a laugh that was truly infectious. He loved fishing, hunting, horseback riding, tinkering in his garage, and spending time at his playhouse on the creek. Most precious to Dale was being able to spend time with his beautiful granddaughters (“His girls”), and seeing them play the sports they loved.

Dale was saved later in life and enjoyed talking with others about his testimony. He would always say “I just want everyone to have a piece of what I have found.” When Dale was facing death he would also say “I’m a winner either way!”

Dale is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Stephens Motley of Woodburn. His daughter Laura Motley Carter of Bowling Green . His granddaughters Hailey Amber Carter and Jaycee Lee Carter, both of Bowling Green. His sister Diane Motley Mitchell, and brothers, Charlie Motley and Michael Motley. He is also survived by nieces Julie Motley White and Tammy Motley, several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a special cousin, Sue Basham. Also, sisters-in-law, Eileen Ragan (Doug) and Judy Nakagawa (Kiyoshi).

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life immediately following the visitation, at J.C. Kirby & Son, Broadway Chapel. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Woodburn City Cemetery.
