Russell Lowell Morgan, Jr., finished the race of life (2 Timothy 4:7) on April 23, 2024, in his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, surrounded by his family. Born on March 11, 1934, he recently celebrated his 90th birthday. He was raised in Paducah, Kentucky, graduating from Augusta Tilghman High School in 1952. While attending Paducah Junior College, Morgan enlisted with the United States Army, serving for three years with The Army Security Agency at the Herzo Military Base in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Morgan returned to Paducah, where he worked at A&P Grocery Store and reentered college. Upon his return to Paducah, he met the love of his life, Martha Ann Fox, whom he married on June 22, 1958. They moved to Memphis where he entered Memphis State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree.

Following graduation, Morgan returned to Paducah to work at Citizens National Bank. He soon began a 35-year career with State Farm Insurance Company, retiring in 1998, as a Claims Superintendent. After several moves with State Farm, Morgan and his family settled in Bowling Green, where he spent the rest of his life. Morgan was active in the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher; the Bowling Green Evening Lions Club, which he served multiple times as President and was a Lifetime Member and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was President and Outstanding Member of Bowling Green Landmark Association. Morgan served 10 years on the Board of The Kentucky Congress of Parents and Teachers and four years as President of the Third District PTA. He served Bowling Green High School as PTA President for two years.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Johnnie Griffin Morgan and Russell Lowell Morgan, Sr., and his brother Richard Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha, his four children, Sally Lowell Morgan Bradford (Dennis), Laura Ann Morgan Huff, Russell Brent Morgan (Melanie), Emily Griffin Morgan McClain (Ross), ten grandchildren, Ann (Cullen) Caballero, Paul (Kelsie) Bradford, Lauren (Abhi) Saxena, Jay and Regan Huff, Morgan and Griffin McClain, Eliza, Winston and Britton Morgan, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Mary (Raymond) Rich, and many nieces and nephews. He loved baseball and was an outstanding first baseman; went to see the St. Louis Cardinals play over a 75-year period, from the time he was 12 and attended his last game when he was 87; and he enjoyed watching westerns on TV. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He put God and his family first in everything that he did.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024 at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bowling Green. Burial will be Monday, April 29th at 3:00 p.m. in Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, Kentucky.
