Jewel Slater Waldrip, age 83, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital on April 5, 2024.
Jewel was born on April 4, 1941 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was raised in Winnsboro, SC by her Granddaddy, David Arthur Slater, who called her by her nickname “Doodie”. She cherished her southern heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Waldrip. She is survived by her children, Billie Wieland (Joe), David Roberts (Donna), Duane Roberts (Sue), and Randy Roberts (Rosey); six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and beloved friends.
Jewel was always a hard worker who enjoyed singing, playing musical instruments, quilting, and definitely socializing in Walmart.
Jewel will be remembered as a dedicated mom and a friendly person who loved talking to everyone no matter where she was at. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Leitchfield and her church family meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family has chosen cremation. Jewel will be memorialized with a close family gathering in Lebanon National Cemetery.
