Jacqueline “Jackie” Frances Brown, 89, born in Independence, Missouri on April 25, 1934, to John C. and Frances B. (Hickman) Hawkins. Jackie is proceeded in death by Junior Ray “Pete” Brown, and previous spouses, Andrew J. Seavy (1965) and Bob Justice (2022). Jackie loved many things in life including “keeping the roads hot,” her volunteer work with Community Action Council’s food bank for 12 years, UK-Hope Lodge, Red Cross, and Town & Country Homemakers, and mostly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent her last days telling stories of her experiences on a bus ride, her brushing against Jackie Kennedy’s hand at the Parkland Hospital ER the day of JFK’s death. Yes, she was there! She told of her grandmother going to the White House to play bridge with Bess Truman, her mother took care of Margaret Truman, and lived blocks from Harry Truman’s home. In her final days she listened to and sang gospel music, and ate good food, anything she wanted, and spent time with those special people she adored; you could always count on a card on your birthday. It was important to her.
She is survived by her children Steve Brown, Jim Newell (Terry), Janet Vessels, Teri Charles (Steve Sego), Kevin Brown (Brenda) and Patty Brown; grandchildren Michael Brown, Billy England, Chris Harper, Joseph Harper, Brock Harper, Brent Harper (deceased), Andria Wynn, Ian Vessels, Alex Brown, Laura Vessels, John Brown, Juliana Vessels, Charlie Couch, Chasity Brown (deceased), Keyshia Couch, Tabitha Couch, Elisabeth Enriquez, Jazzmaun Hrycenko, Amy Newell, Brett Newell, Amanda Durbin, and Victoria Vessels; great grandchildren Dustin, Mike, Makayla, Cheyenne, Dakota (deceased), Kaci, Myah, Micah, Mackenzy (Isaac), Aubrie, Devon, Emmalee, Jayda, Jaydyn, Ledger, Abby, Garrett, Ryan, Jordyn, Halli (Jaxon), Christa, Wade, Timmy, Trent, Donovan, Blake, Tanner, Lane, Paiten, and Braxten, Jacqueline, Alexis, Little Joe, Dylan, William, Isabella, Hailey, Brooklynn, Samuel, Bryer, and Parker. She planned on watching the UK Wildcats in the first round of the NCAA this year. She began to slip from this world before the game. She would have been disappointed anyway.
There will be a private graveside service in the White Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent in her honor to the White Cemetery Fund, c/o Linda Faye Brown.
