Elizabeth Louise (Russell) Lemay

Elizabeth Louise (Russell) Lemay, 73, of Glasgow, went home to be with the Lord, January 21st, 2024 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville due to health complications.  She was born on March 27th, 1950, at home in Hiseville, KY to the late Joe Abb Russell and Maude (Pierce) Russell.

She graduated in 1968 from Temple Hill High School in Barren County. She worked as a telephone operator, manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken, General Electric, and retired from Smucker’s. After her retirement, she enjoyed being creative with many projects; making gifts for family and friends; and spending time with children, grandchildren, and her siblings. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing with her husband, Larry and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening, and adorning her yard with flower gardens. She was known to make the best Pimento cheese around and it was requested at every gathering. She loved to shop and find great bargains to share with her family. She collected Holiday Barbie Dolls and was a fan of beautiful porcelain teacups. She was a member of Union #2 Baptist Church.

She leaves in her memory, her husband of over 56 years, Larry Lemay of Glasgow, whom she married August 27, 1968; two daughters, Lavada Carol (Michael) Grimes of  Scottsville, and Bonnie (Joey) Moore, of Scottsville; seven grandchildren, Jazzmine (Tyler) Cline, Dustin (Kristin) Jones, Katie (Kenny) Cox, Samantha (Scott) Shelton,  Dyllan Harper, Jessica Moore, and seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Avalon (Lillian) Russell and Larry (Diane) Russell; one sister, Lavada Gosser; and a sister-in-law, Kathy (Harry T) Ramey; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Lemay and David (Judy) Lemay; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert Mitchell Lemay, Father-in-law, Robert Lemay, Mother-in-law, Eunice Houchens, brothers, Joe Lannis (Lois) Russell, Lemuel Russell, Gobel (Bonnie) Russell, and sister, Nell (Marvin) Shockley, brother-in- law, Troy Gosser, and a special niece, Wanda Lee Russell.

A celebration of life service will be held on March 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Union #2 Baptist Church with Brother Roy Shockley and Brother Charles Spearman officiating. Burial will follow the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
