Donald “Donnie” Ray Ford

Donald “Donnie” Ray Ford, age 83 of Horse Cave, was born March 21, 1940 in Hart County to the late Mr. Monroe & Rebecca Curry Ford. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret “Jody” Ford; a son, Demetrius Ford and a brother, Joe Ford.

Donnie, as he was called by all, entered into rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at NHC Health Care in Glasgow, KY.

Donnie professed a hope in Christ at the age of 18 and joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.E. Curry & Rev. Austin Bell. He was ordained as a Deacon in September of 1966 under the leadership of Rev. E.M. Johnson. Donnie has always been a faithful and devoted member of his church and an upstanding citizen of his community. He was active in numerous areas as he coached Caverna Little League teams in football, baseball, and basketball. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel January 25, 1973. He was a member of the Kentucky Jaycees where he held the offices of President and Regional Vice-President. He earned the Out Standing Jaycee Award during his membership in this organization. He also served with the Caverna Athletic Boosters, The Horse Cave City Council for 2 ½  years and the Hart County Fair Board. Donnie worked for the Moss Family for 15 years and for The Eaton Axle Division.

Since retirement, Donnie has always stayed busy taking care of family, friends, providing meals, transportation for others and anything else that was requested of him. This includes countless other deeds.

Donnie leaves to cherish his memory, a son Dy’tanius Ford, Louisville, KY, step-daughter, Tonya Parmon, Cave City, KY, daughter-in-law, Renea Ford, Elizabethtown, KY, a brother, Edward “Cookie” Ford, Horse Cave, KY,  grandchildren, Charity Ford, Courtney Woodard, Nakitia Williams, Corey Ford, Chad Nuckols, Deidra Ford, and Desire Ford; a host of great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends; three special caregivers, Delores Green, Pamela Ford, and Rev. K.T. Ford also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 PM CT on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home and again from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM CT on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CT on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Samuel L. Whitlow Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Horse Cave Guthrie St. Cemetery.
