Mitchell Stephens age 91 passed away at his daughter’s residence in Alvaton, Kentucky on February 15, 2024 with his family at his side. He was born in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Finus Dewey and Minnie Baker( Bunch) Stephens.
In addition to his parents, he’s preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Billie Jean Williams Stephens and their grandson, Joseph Harlament; two sisters, Sydney Perkins and Elizabeth Payne and two brothers, Jewell Stephens and John Stephens.
Mitchell worked as a machinist for the Brown and Williamson Company. Before joining the workforce, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. During his retirement he joined and proudly represented the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his daughter Amanda Dawn Johnson and her husband William of Alvaton; special granddaughter, Valerie Emberton; great grandchildren, Aqua and Owen Emberton; sisters, Alene Mattingly and Elsie Gass and one brother, Ray Stephens and several extended family and friends also survive.
Mitchell would like to extend a thanks to his coon hunting and poker buddies for the great memories and the good times shared over the years. Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. J C Kirby and Son, Lovers Lane Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
