Melvin Gerald Payne, 84, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born December 3, 1939 in Merry Oaks, Kentucky to the late Vernon J. Payne and May Burgoine Payne. Melvin worked for Glass Construction, loved watching sports, and was a longtime member of Rolling Hills United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Hale Payne; one son, Kevin Payne (Stephanie); one daughter, Debbie Vincent; one stepdaughter, Thresea Wilkerson (Gary); three grandchildren, Victor Payne, Nathaniel Vincent, Jamie Hardin (Joe); four great grandchildren, Dalton Vincent, Leah Hardin (Henry), Tara Hardin, AJ Hardin; one great great grandchild, Melanie Mendez; one brother, Donald Payne; five sisters, Barbara, Brenda, Linda, Beverly, Phyllis; one sister-in-law, Doris Payne; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Lisa Spradlin; two grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Vincent, Jessica Vincent-Parks; and four brothers, Albert, Floyd, O’Dell, and Larry Payne.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Melvin.
