James C. “Jim” Brinegar, age 79 of Mammoth Cave, departed this life with his family by his side on Friday, November 17, 2023 at his residence. Jim was born on September 29, 1944 in Flemingsburg, KY to the late Ezra and Cora Muse Brinegar. He was married for over 30 years to his loving wife, Sitha Brinegar, who survives.

Jim served our country in the U.S. Army for over 25 years, and later worked with the civil service until his retirement. He was a member of Camp Knox Lodge #919 F&AM and of the Methodist faith.

Besides his wife, Sitha, he leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Krickett Rich (Hayden Merryman) of Mammoth Cave; grandchildren, Victoria Bretz, Noah Bretz (Shelby), Brent Merryman, William Merryman, Waylon Merryman, Tayler Williams (Ryan), Dallas Heald (Xyeria), Becka McDowell (Jonathan), Blayne Sollars, Annie Sollars and Abbie Sollars; great-grandchildren, Kenzley Logan, Jasper Bretz, Brinnedy Bretz, Kita Bretz; several other great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Susan Newberry.

Interment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
