Mrs. Pauline (Knight) Cooksey, age 96, of Louisville, Kentucky formerly of Edmonton, Kentucky passed away on Friday, November 03, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Cooksey was born on Saturday, March 12, 1927 the daughter of Robert DeWitt and Phoebe (Vance) Knight. She attended Society Hill Baptist church and Grace Union Baptist Church, was a licensed Cosmetologist and Beautician having attended Helms Beauty College in the 1950’s, worked locally here in Edmonton at Fannies Beauty Shop, was a clerk at the Galt house and the Executive Inn in Louisville throughout the 90’s, and she hosted alongside her husband several World War II reunions.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Mayo Cooksey, sister, Christine (& Bill) Cooksey, double niece, Connie Lynn (Cooksey) Fox, father and mother-in-law, John Zidner “JS” and Cora Alice (Fraser) Cooksey.
She is survived by her son, Scott DeWitt Cooksey of Louisville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Amanda Evelyn (Cooksey) (& Anthony) Stanganelli, Eric Scott Cooksey both of Tampa, Florida, great-grandchildren, Giuseppe Matteo Stanganelli, Phoebe Cook Stanganelli both of Tampa, Florida, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Pauline (Knight) Cooksey will be conducted on Thursday, November 09, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Butler Funeral Home with the Hon. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens in Edmonton, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 08, after 5:00 p.m. and again on Thursday after 6:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home.
