James was a 1970 graduate of Metcalfe County High School. He then attended Western Kentucky University where he graduated in 1975 with several degrees in Environmental Science (B.S.) He grew up in Center, Ky, making many trips the the gathering spot, “The Ole Node Store”. His childhood church into adulthood was Seven Springs Church where he was a member for many years. He loved his church and was raised in a tight knight community of cousins, family, and many friends. In 2000 he moved his membership to Horse Cave Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and enjoyed fellowship with his church family.

He started his career in Lab at TJ Samson and eventually started a new adventure at Caverna Memorial Hospital. There he worked lab and x-ray for many years. Eventually his full focus was on lab, where he held the position of Lab Director, until his early retirement due to cancer. He was an excellent phlebotomist as well. Patients would ask for him by name. He was truly gifted in the task.

He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed anything and everything they could think of. He was always teaching them new ways of fishing, basketball, and golfing, and many other sports. He loved God, his family and friends. His heart was the kindest soul you could find on this earth. He always wanted to do the right thing by all; no matter what the circumstance.
