Geraldean Humes Bowman, 83, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Thursday, June 1st, at Signature Health Care of Monroe County.

Geraldean was born in Metcalfe County, KY on March 23, 1940, a daughter of the late Effie (Dubree) and Clayton  Humes.

She married Willie Bowman on January 25, 1958. Willie preceded her in death on January 25, 2021, on their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Geraldean was known as “Nanny Bowman” to the ones that loved her the most. Nanny Bowman had a large part of raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would climb apple trees, take them fishing, scratch their backs, shoot birds, bake cakes, and fix her famous biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Nanny Bowman was a loving, nurturing caretaker and a best friend.

Geraldean is lovingly survived by a daughter, Teresa Carter, and husband, Dr. Tony;
a son, Bill Bowman, both of Tompkinsville, KY; five grandchildren, Nicholas Carter, and wife, Lauren, Dr. Amy Geralds, and husband, Justin, Ben Carter, and wife, Kristie, Dr. Laura Inabnitt, and husband, Shawn, Brock Bowman, and fiancé Megan Sparks; five great grandchildren, Briar, Harper, Finn, Clayton and Rori.

Geraldean is also survived by two sisters, Helen Bowman and Joyce Kerr, of Tompkinsville, KY.

Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Tanner Bowman, five brothers, Harlie, Ralph, Roy, Robert and Rondall Humes, and four sisters, Odell Lollar, Stella Shaw, Hazel Paul, and Ida Mae Self.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 4th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Visitation is Saturday, June 3, 5-8 p.m., and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Geraldean’s memory may be made to Monroe County Backpack Program.
