GLASGOW – A fourth person has been arrested in connection to an alleged drug scheme at the Barren County Detention Center.
In a press release, the Barren River Drug Task Force (BRDTF) says, Monday afternoon the Barren Co. Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Troy A. Vibbert, 30, of Glasgow in reference to an active indictment warrant. Vibbert was served with the indictment warrant and the fourth person indicted for allegedly supplying illegal drugs to be brought into the Barren County Detention Center.
The investigation began on Dec. 28 after Barren County Jailer Aaron Shirley requested an independent investigation. Illegal drugs were getting inside the jail, according to a previous news release.
Three people were arrested in late February in connection to the alleged scheme including former deputy jailer Edith Piercy and inmates Shasta Vaughn and Amber D. Huff. All were charged with engaging in organized crime and promoting contraband.
During the traffic stop, Deputy Maxey noticed the odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.
Amber S. Thompson, 31, of Glasgow, produced a marijuana cigarette. A BRDTF detective was called to the scene. A search of the vehicle revealed a large bag of suspected marijuana under the passenger seat along with digital scales, and numerous unopened packages of hypodermic needles. A bag of suspected crystal meth was additionally found on Thompson.
Thompson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense-Methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
Both Vibbert and Thompson were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
