GLASGOW — There are 168 entries in this year’s community Christmas parade. It kicks off Saturday at 6 p.m.

Bodie Janes, also known as the Barefoot Farmer of Finney Holler, will headline the parade as the grand marshal. The theme is “An Aloha Christmas.”

Will there be traffic impacts?

Yes, beginning Saturday, Dec. 3 at noon, the Glasgow Public Square parking will be closed. Many parade-goers watch the parade from the Square.

Scottie Drive will be closed at 1 p.m. and no through traffic will be permitted for several hours. The Square will be closed at 4:30 p.m.

Roads near Columbia Avenue, including the turning lanes onto Veterans Outer Loop, will be closed at 5 p.m. Broadway Street and all side streets along Columbia Avenue will be closed at that time, too.

Glasgow Police said the Square will remain closed until officials have cleaned the area following the parade. Columbia Avenue will also undergo clearing and cleaning. That means closures could last as late as 9 p.m. Saturday.

What’s this year’s route?

The parade will follow its familiar route as it begins along Scottie Drive, travels westbound along Columbia Avenue, onto East Main Street, around the north, west and south sides of the downtown Square and terminates near Save A-Lot along South Green Street.

Parade-goers will line the streets from Glasgow High to South Green along the route. Use caution around the areas following the parade as traffic is likely to be congested.

How can I catch coverage if I’m unable to attend?

Televised coverage of the parade will be carried on social media and local channels. The Glasgow EPB will air the program beginning at 6 p.m. with Henry Royse and Brennan Crain of WCLU Radio. The program will be available at Glasgow EPB’s YouTube page. SCRTC will also carry coverage on their local access channel.

Radio coverage will be carried at WCLU Radio, too. Access it by listening in the WCLU Radio app or on the air at 103.1 FM or 1490 AM. Coverage begins at 6 p.m.
