Dr. George Philip Whiteside Jr., 78, of Glasgow, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born in Glasgow on October 22, 1943, to the late Dr. George and Mary Florence Whiteside. He practiced dentistry in Glasgow for 47 years, the last 10 of which were with his son, Will. He was an avid tennis player, biker, and outdoor enthusiast.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Emma “Cookie” Whiteside; three children, Jane Ann Dempsey (Mike) of Asheville, NC, Julie Hires (Sonny) of Atlanta, GA, and Dr. Will Whiteside (Sara) of Glasgow, KY; and eight grandchildren, Harlan & Emma Rose Dempsey, Edward, Mary Bea & Bridget Hires, and Cook, Hayes & Avett Whiteside. He is also survived by his younger brother Dr. Jim Whiteside (Mary) of Glasgow and his younger sister, Ann Dickson (Bob) of Lexington.
After a private, family eulogy at the Glasgow Cemetery, the family will receive visitors at the First Christian Church on North Race Street in Glasgow from 1-5 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
