EDMONTON — State law enforcement investigated a four-vehicle injury collision in Metcalfe County Monday evening.
Kentucky State Police said a 2010 Peterbilt truck was traveling westbound along the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway. The driver was identified as Tavian Smith, 26, and an investigation found he had swerved the semi truck to avoid a construction barrel in the roadway.
Police said the truck overturned in the roadway and blocked it. Another vehicle traveling westbound crashed into the truck because the driver did not see it in the roadway, a news release said. That driver was identified as Alexus Roberson, 17, of Edmonton. The vehicle also hit a person who was stopped offering assistance to the overturned truck.
An ambulance then collided into the crashed semi truck and passenger car. The driver, identified as Tyler Abney, 37, of Albany, apparently did not see the crashed vehicles.
Bonnie Withers, 36, of Berea, was identified as the person stopped to assist the overturned semi truck. She was hit by Roberson’s car. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital in Glasgow.
Officer Casey Tooley investigated the collision, state police said.
