Laverne Louise Caswell Merideth, age 93, of Munfordville, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at her daughter’s (Regina Merideth Bruck) home in Tucson, AZ. Laverne was born on October 27, 1928 to the late Clint and Lena (Jaggers) Caswell. Laverne graduated from Munfordville High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended Western Kentucky University. She was also a member of the Easter Star#322. In 1941, Laverne was saved by our Lord Jesus and became a member of Cave Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to attend for 81 years and remained strong in her faith.
Laverne was united in marriage to Wayburn D. Merideth on December 22, 1946 and they celebrated 48 years of a loving marriage and raised two children: Regina and Don. Laverne and Wayburn enjoyed riding horses together and she loved gardening, golfing, and bowling, but Laverne’s lifelong passion was interior design. Laverne was talented in interior decorating and her legacy of classical design and style continues to be emulated by her family, friends, and many nieces. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and continued to cut the grass as she enjoyed being outside. Laverne relished being with Don and Regina, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, where she maintained a special bond with her first born grandchild, Jennifer.
Survivors include daughter, Regina Merideth Bruck (Bill), grandchildren: Jennifer Martin Birchard (William), Stephen Bruck (Laura); Abby Bruck and Jessica Miles. Great grandchildren; Will, Madison, Rebecca, Evelyn, Jake, Kenzie, River, Payton and Anthony, all of Tucson, Arizona; one sister,Jorene C. McCubbins; one sister-in-law, Joy M Powell and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayburn; son, Don; grandson, Nicholas; one sister, Beatrice C. Lively.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. CT Friday, January 21, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT Saturday 22, 2022 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. CT Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery, Munfordville, KY.
