Tuesday morning Barren County Schools will be back in session and Barren County Sheriff, Kent Keen, says that means several things:

“That means school traffic, buses on the roads and at stops, traffic control, traffic officers in the roadway,” Keen says. “So we want to urge all drivers to expect delays around Trojan Trail.”

Sheriff Keen says that preparing the night before could save time and to keep an eye out for extra traffic on secondary roads, especially in the early morning hours.

Sheriff Keen says drivers should always pay attention.

Anyone who has been caught in the Trojan Trail school traffic will tell you it can be a stressful situation.

For years the Sheriff’s Office has helped with school traffic as a courtesy service.

Sheriff Keen says that while the deputies make every effort to help with school traffic, there will be days that they won’t be able to:

“Just think of how much of a headache it will be if that were every day,” he says. “It’s a blessing we can be there, it’s a courtesy for the drivers and the school. A lot of those guys get a hard way to go, there’s a lot of frustrated drivers at the traffic stop and all that officer is trying to do is get the buses and drop-offs  in & out.”

While it may be frustrating to have to sit there, getting mad won’t make the traffic move any faster.
