GLASGOW Ky. — Hannah Doyle signed to swim with Campbellsville University last week.

During her six year career at Barren County High School, Doyle excelled in the pool under the guidance of several different coaches. Most recently under Coach Kelley Bauer, Doyle broke two BCHS records during the regional meet.

“Being able to break school records and leave your name at your high school has been pretty awesome for me,” Doyle said.

Bauer said Doyle’s personal attributes combine well with her athletic attributes.

“She is an incredible person first and foremost. She is a natural leader, a motivator, an encourager, and just everything you want as a captain, certainly, but also as a teammate,” Bauer said. “She’s a big reason that we have the program that we have.”

Doyle was drawn to Campbellsville in part because of her curiosity in its faith-based campus life and approach to education.

Doyle said she knew she made the right decision when the head swim coach quoted scripture during their one-on-one meeting.

“It just felt right,” Doyle said.

She said she expects to be immersed in an environment which will shape her into a better person. Doyle also said Coach Casey Bradstreet seems like someone who cannot only help her improve in the pool but in all aspects of her life.

“She had an interest not only in the sport, but also in the academic program,” Bradstreet said. “A student athlete who is going to be really successful is one who’s committed — not only to their sport that they’re interested in — but also to being a residential student and really getting connected to the community there.”

Bradstreet commended Doyle on her team-oriented mentality and expressed that this is a very special quality in individualistic sports such as swimming.

Doyle plans to study elementary education and return home to Barren County.

“[I’m] feeling so excited and beyond blessed! I’m not leaving my family,” Doyle said. “I’m keeping a family and gaining another.”
