Carl Royce Hood, age 61 of Scottsville, formerly of Monroe County, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Medical Center of Scottsville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ada Hood; sister, Joyce Cornwell. 

Coach Hood was a retired teacher and coach for 27 years in the Allen, McLean, Ohio, and Muhlenberg counties. He was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky High School Coaches Association. He was an avid outdoorsman with a great love of football.  He has enjoyed watching his son Brad, coach the Allen County Scottsville Patriots the past five years.  He leaves behind numerous friends, players, and extended family who loved and admired Royce. 

He is survived by a son, Bradley Hood and his wife Stephanie; grandson, Cannon Maverick Hood; brother, Joe Hood and his wife Lisa; brother-in-law, H. B. Cornwell; nephews, Joe Curry Hood, Chris Hood; nieces, Carla Hale, and Lou Ann Fultz. 

Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville with Bro. Gary Sullivan officiating.  Interment will follow in the White Cemetery in Monroe County where Joe Curry Hood, Chris Hood, Kerry Harwood, Wesley Atwood, Pat Gates, Danny Shipley, David Young, and Chad Cooper will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27 after 1:00 p.m.  and resume on Monday, February 28 at 7:30 a.m. 

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association For Stroke Prevention.
